Director, actor, author, set designer, producer and art director
He was born in Lecco. He attends the theatre courses done by Nella Marcacci, who was a teacher at the "Piccolo Teatro" in Milan and the ones of "Arti Sceniche" held by Alessandro Fersen in Rome.
His interest for the theatre was already present when he was a boy. He understood that was his future when he saw a prose performances in Milan, London, New York and Paris. He left his projects of the course of his life such as his studies and chose what be realized to do.
1970
He makes bis debut as an actor in the theatre with "I Calabroni" by Aristofane at the Theatre of Ancient Ostia.
1972
He produces "Zutik" written by an direct by Mario Maffei, and went at the Festival Internazionale di Teatro di Sant'arcangelo di Romagna.
1973
He sets up with Angela Redini, whe is also an actress, the theatrical company "Gruppo Teatro Incontro" and produces "Credere e obbedire..." by Roberto Veller, "Notte di
guerra al Museo del Prado" by Rafael Alberti, settings by Alejandro Kokociski and "La nuova colonia" by Luigi Pirandello, with inserts by Dacia Maraini. The two last works are invited at the Festival lnternacional Cervantino di Guanajuato/Mexico.
In the same year Angela Redini leaves the theatrical Group.
1975
He produces, all alone, "La bambina Piedad" by Hernogenes Sainz, settings by Claudio Brigatti, customs designed by Lidia Forlini.
1976
"La doppia incostanza" by Marivaux, settings and customs made by Santi Migneco, direction of Augusto Zucchi.
1977
"ll Candelaio" by Giordano Bruno, settings and customs made by Aldo Buti, direction of Julio Salines.
1978
"Uno strano labirinto" by Fernando Sanchez Majans, settings and customs made by Aldo Buti, direction of Julio Salines.
"Il Candelaio" and "Uno strano labirinto" were invited at the Festival Cervantino di Gauanajuato / Mexico keeping up later the tournèe in Guatemala, Venezuela, Mexisco and Colombia.
"Il canto del cigno" by Anton Checov, with the actors Clara Colosimo and Franco Bagagli, settings made by Julio Izquierdo, direction Josep Babic.
1979
He organizes in New York USA, the "Festival of Italian Theatre" promoted by the Foreign Office and the Italian Theatrical Association, in this Festival he makes his debut as a director with the musical" Marco Polo & Company" by an idea of him written by Mario Moretti.
He producet "Rasputin" by A.M.Ponchia with the direction by Salvatore Martino. He organizes "Concerti di Poesia" with the Artistic Direction of the Poet Elio Pecora:
1980
He directs "Clizia" by Niccolò Machiavelli - adaption by Osvaldo Bevilacqua of the Theatre Parioli in Rome, settings and customes made by Pasquale Grossi. At the "Festival delle Ville Medicee" the Artistic Director Giancarlo Menotti, watches "Clizia" and invites Meroni to take part at the "Festival of two World Spoleto-Charleston \ USA "as the first Italian Director present in this prestigious Festival.
1981
He is the director and the set designer of "Un giorno ancora" by Joseph Conrad, which an absolute first night, with the actors: Remo Girone, Carlo Hintermann.
He inaugurates with "Livietta e Tracollo" and ''La serva padrona" di G.G.Pergolesi the "Opera Omnia Pergolesi Festival" being the director. He was even the director of "Aurilla e Alcido" by Antonio Vivaldi and "La serva padrona" by Pergolesi, at Opere Theatre in Belgrado.
1982
He stages again "Clizia" by N. Machiavelli for a tournèe in Mexico and New York USA and takes part at "Festival Cervantino-Mexico"
He produced " Credere e Obbedire..." by Roberto Veller, directed by Michele Scaglione
1983
The success obtained in Mexico with "Clizia" earns him an invitation from the Department of the Mexican Culture to direct "La vita è sogno" by Calderon de la Barca with a whole Mexican cast.
He is the director of "Il barbiere di Siviglia" di Gioacchino Rossini with the set designer by Alfredo Silbermann at the Lyrical Theatre of Cosenza.
He is Main Artist Director of the event "Transmetrò" entrusted by the Cultural Consillorship of
the town of Roma and chooses EUR as the right place where to realize it. For the first time it is present in such cultural activities the Lyrical Opera with the great soprano Monserrat caballe besides great artists such as Giorgio Albertazzi, Marcel Marceau and other prestigious ones. The critic Achille Bonito Oliva was the supervisor of the painting exhibition "Avanguardia Romana"
1984
He directs and supervises the scenes and customs of "Aida" by Giuseppe Verdi, "Lucia di Lammeroor" by Gaetano Donizetti and the "La Boheme" by Giacomo Puccini, a cooproduction of the Lyrical Opera Theatre in Seul-Korea and the "Teatro La Scala" in Milan. The singers are Patrizia Pace, Renato Salvatori, Hyung-Soo, Kyu-Do Lee, Vincenzo Bello, Gianfranco Cecchele and other ones. The Conductor is Massimo Pradella.
In the occasion of the "Jubilean Year" he directs "La Passione" by an umbrian unknown author of the IVX century with customs made by Marcella De Marchis Rossellini. The leading actors are Mila Vannucci, Enrico Di Troia, Ivano Marescotti and other ones.
He is invited again as a director by Giancarlo Menotti at the Festival Spoleto-Charleston USA with the Operas "L'Arlecchinata" by Antonio Salieri and "Livietta e Tracollo" by G .Battista Pergolesi which a production of the Teatro Petruzzelli of Bari; the conductor is Rino Marrone.
Later, both the performances have takes part at the "Festival Lirico di Martina Franca
1985
He produces "Il bell'indifferente" by Jean Cocteau. The main actress is Antonietta Carbonetti.
Directed by Marco Gagliardo and "Le ruote girano" whose text, scenes and direction are made by Barbara Olivieri.
1986
He takes again "Clizia" by N. Machiavelli for a tournèe through Italy.
1987
He directs as first night "I finti commedianti" by Gioacchino Belli wiht a production of the "Teatro di Roma" the actors are Donatella Ceccarello, Franco Alpestre, Lorenzo Gioielli and other ones.
1988
He produces "Un posto sicuro" by Hans Krendlesberger , directed by Rodolfo Santini . The set designer is made of Kurt Flechl-M. Cristina Tito. The actresses are Rina Franchetti and Micaela Giustiniani.
He transletes with Marco Bongiovanni "Il vento del cielo" Emlyn William and directs it him.
The set designer is made Stefano Pace who also makes the costums. The actors are Arnoldo Foà ,Aldo Reggiani and othes ones. The perfomance is produced the "Festival del Teatro di San Miniato"
He produces "Uomini e Paesaggi" by Jannis Ritsos, directed by Salvatore Martino at the Theatre "Piccolo Eliseo" . The main actors are Salvatore Martino and Edda Dell'Orso, music by Giacomo Dell'Orso.
1989
He writes with A. Mario Ponchia a text "...e la vita va via col vento" and directed it. The set disegner is Stefano Pace. The performance take piace at "Theatre Testoni-Lamezia Terme.
2000
He is the writes of the test, the director and the set designer of "Nostos Ritorni". The actresses are Katia Ricciarelli and Piera Degli Esposti. The first performance is at the "Festival della Magna Grecia" at Taranto.
2008
He takes again as director "I finti commedianti" by G. Gioacchino Belli for a tournèe throughout ltaly.
Moreover he and Giulio Paternieri pian the formation of the Theatrical Company O.S.I.
(lnternational Performance Organization). He sets -up Theatrical Cooperative of the "Theatr of Prado.
